After a very very long hiatus, I feel like I am finally at a place where I am proud to show off some of my art again. While I won't be putting up much (if any) of my old art, I think folks will find some my new stuff to their liking. I am pretty excited about it; but more than anything it brings me happiness to create something. For those folks who don't know me yet, or if it's been awhile, I guess I should introduce myself.
You can call me Gim- don't worry about my nickname. It's too much to explain with little payoff. I am (obviously) not a professional artist, and have no desire to be. I draw because I love to, and because I enjoy the creative outlet it provides. For me it is a great hobby, and I want to share it again. Don't think that is a shutoff for constructive criticism though! I appreciate it and will take valid suggestions/ comments to heart! Folks who get all whiny and pissy because someone has something negative to say about their work aren't worth bothering with, and aren't real artists- pro or amateur alike.
Right now I am uploading selected pieces from my "50 characters" project. I literally had 50 characters for one world, and drew them all- primary, secondary and tertiary alike. All in all, I think it took about three months to draw every one. This was about a year ago, but there are still things from it that I really like. The original idea was to emulate video game art styles (particularly the "Tales of" games) and adapted to the characters. As a result of the process, I learned what it meant to have a similar theme in a collection of pieces. You won't be seeing all 50, as that is sort of a lot to upload, and many are not worth the effort. Many of them are not ones I would be proud to show, anyway. The ones you will see are the ones I really liked- either character wise, or execution wise.
I'll also be uploading some more recent stuff- I feel like I've grown and learned a lot from drawing, and improved some in my skills. I am still pushing myself too! I think most people will be able to tell that some of my style has come from Japanese art styles, like anime, but I feel like I equally pull from cartoons and other things to make it uniquely my own. So that is why most things will be thrown into the "fantasy" category.
As for my personal life... well, I've gone through graduate school, gotten a job, and generally gotten my life together, which is pretty awesome. I am actually pretty happy with how everything has turned out so far.
Wow, so it sounds like I am taking all this super seriously, when I really don't all that much! Point is, I wanted to say "hello!" and hope you stick around to see more!
